I should have written this when I have finished watching the anime and live action drama. But, I didn’t have the time or was busy doing something else. I heard the manga is still ongoing?
Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge is one of the anime I’ve come to love. It’s funny and entertaining to watch. So, when I heard there will be a live action drama, I was really excited. I was anticipating the cast and wondered how they are going to portray the characters. I have mixed reactions when I watched it. It’s good but the hype is not the same with the anime? or maybe I was expecting too much. Nevertheless, I like the plot. That’s why, if ever Korea is going to make and adaptation on this drama, I want my favorite band CNBLUE to be the four male lead casts and Sandara Park and Bae Suzy to be the female leads. Before I explain why, below are some details about the anime and drama.

Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge (Perfect Girl Evolution / The Wallflower) is a manga series written by Tomoko Hayakawa. The series was licensed for an English language release in North America by Del Rey Manga and in Singapore by Chuang Yi, under the name My Fair Lady.
Nippon Animation adapted part of the manga series into a twenty-five episode anime series which aired on TV Tokyo and TV Aichi from October 3, 2006 through March 27, 2007.
Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge (Perfect Girl Evolution / The Wallflower) is about a girl named Sunako who was called ugly by the first and only person to whom she confessed her love. This incident sparks a life change, and as a result Sunako shuns all forms of beauty, both in herself as well as in life. Concerned by her change for the worst, Sunako’s aunt, the owner of a beautiful mansion where four very handsome students live, offers the guys free rent in her mansion if they can turn Sunako into a “perfect lady” (referred to in Japan as the titular Yamato Nadeshiko).
While the four of them manage to make Sunako physically beautiful enough to become a lady, the problem lies with her attitude and interests (which Sunako has no intention of changing). Up until the most recent release in the story, they’ve managed to convince Sunako’s aunt that her niece is indeed a lady befitting the mansion in which they live (and prevent the rent from skyrocketing to triple the required amount). However, in reality Sunako has not changed considerably. Sunako has the tendency to spurt out in a nose bleed when seen by bright creatures, especially around Kyohei.

Sunako always had an obsession with darkness and a morbid fascination with blood, horror movies, and similarly dark things but it wasn’t until she was rejected by her first love that she openly expressed it and became even more isolated from the rest of the world. She hates excessive light exposure and also does poorly in hot weather, though the latter is because she grew up in northern Japan. She has three “friends”; a skeleton called Josephine (with husband, sergeant George) and two anatomical figures named Hiroshi-kun and Akira-kun. While she suffers from severely low self-esteem, she is actually quite beautiful (most of her physical imperfections are a result of her self-imposed isolation from the world) and a frighteningly tough fighter, being able to lift someone twice her size with one hand. She is portrayed (mostly) throughout the manga in chibi form as a sort of visual metaphor for how she and others see herself; becoming beautiful when her mood becomes bold or confident. Somewhat surprisingly, she is a very good cook, very athletic, intelligent, and a good pianist. She refers to beautiful people as “creatures of light” and “ugly” people, such as herself, as “creatures of darkness”, in the translation in America. Whenever she sees a “creature of light”, she gets nosebleeds, and they’re usually severe when she sees Kyohei. Despite her negative attitude, once she is driven to do something, Sunako is quite capable of doing things that no one expects her to complete. There is also a possibility that she may have supernatural abilities i.e. plants wilting near her and windows shattering. She is also the niece of Mine Nakahara; she is called “Auntie” by Kyohei, Yuki, Ranmaru, and Takenaga.
The tallest and handsomest of the foursome. He is the most popular of the boys, and always has trouble keeping down a part-time job because his fans will chase after him, or his boss (male or female) will sexually harass him. Kyohei is cocky, short-tempered, and the only one tough enough to fight on the same level as Sunako. He also tends to succumb to food and money. Since Sunako is the only girl who is able to understand his true personality regardless of his good looks, he gradually develops an obvious attraction towards her, even going as far as kissing her for no apparent reason.
The most intellectual of the four, Takenaga is called the “Boss” (a pun on his personal name in Japanese, which can be read as buchou, meaning “boss”) by his friends and is the least fazed by Sunako’s morbid habits. When the quartet dress Sunako up, Takenaga is usually responsible for doing Sunako’s hair. Takenaga was originally from a wealthy family descended from flower masters (ikebana), but when the pressure of being the family heir was too much, he became completely withdrawn and ignored everyone. He was sent to live at the Landlady’s mansion in hopes of becoming more “normal”. He is described as a caring feminist and is rather shy.
Yukinojo “Yuki” Toyama
The most androgynous of the four, “Yuki” is gentle and is initially the most frightened of Sunako. He’s the most “normal” of the four boys; before coming to live at the mansion he had a normal school life with a middle-class family. His mother and the Landlady are old friends and the Landlady, and Sunako at times, has a soft spot for Yuki. He’s also the shortest and shyest, with a “cute” face, and has been called on (very reluctantly) to dress up as a girl on more than one occasion. He is usually responsible for choosing what sort of clothes Sunako wears when she is forced to dress up and has a good sense of fashion.
A ladies’ man, Ranmaru is often going out with various beautiful older (and often married) women. The very sight of Sunako initially has him breaking out in hives, but when her true beauty is revealed, he decides that she has “potential” to become a real lady. Like Takenaga, he comes from a wealthy family (who own a series of hotel chains), but was sent to live with the Landlady because he exploited his wealth and his parents wanted him to become “normal”. Surprisingly, Ranmaru is actually better at kendo than Takenaga, who comes from a traditional family. He apparently is the strongest advocate of making Sunako into a lady and is usually responsible for doing her make-up whenever she has to dress up; however, his attempts are rarely successful in the long run and he is convinced the it is Kyohei’s attitude towards Sunako that is the primary problem. In hopes of changing his womanizing habits, his parents engage him to reserved and conservative girl of their liking, named Tamao Kikunoi. Even though he rejects Kikunoi’s love for him, he begins to develop feelings for her. He is named after the real life Mori Ranmaru, the partner of Oda Nobunaga.

[Drama] Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge
The drama has its own twist. Unlike in the anime where it involves a lot of setting in school. The drama is set on a mature setting (where the 4 stalkers are adults) even though the four guys goes into school, Sunako didn’t… which I wish she did. Also, “Auntie” here had a son which adds more fun in the house cause all of them has to babysit him when Auntie is away.

I really like the setting and plot of the manga. Korea is known in producing a lot of good dramas. So, I wish Korea will have its own adaptation of Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge. And I hope they will add more twists but not exaggerated. Like I want to test the friendship of the four guys. I want them all to fight for Sunako’s affection though in the end, Oda will go to Noi and Morri to Kikunoi… and Yuki will also have a girl for him like in Jdorama. Also, I want Sunako to go to school with the four of them, to show that she is like an outcast and most of the students there will bully Sunako. The female students envy her because she’s living with the four handsome guys and the male students will make her a target (for revenge or) in getting back with the four guys. And, the four guys are there to defend her always. When Kyohei is not around, Oda will always be there for her. Since Oda is the only one who is comfortable with Sunako’s bizarre habits, he is her study partner which makes Kyohei jealous. Yuki will be like Sunako’s most understanding friend since he is the most soft-hearted. He will always care for her and develop with feelings as they spend more time together. Morri, the typical playboy will make Sunako his shield among the numerous girls whom he left brokenhearted. And when his parents engage him to Kikunoi, he will ask Sunako to pretend to be his girlfriend. He will use the excuse that he loves Sunako that’s why he can’t marry Kikunoi. Kyohei being hot-tempered, always say the wrong words to express his feelings. He is afraid being push away (since his parents esp. her mother hates him because he is too handsome. LOL) and he lets his anger out to Sunako. Since Sunako knows his weakness, Kyohei thinks she pities him and that makes him even more angry. LOL. But, his anger will turn into love as Sunako is always there for him when he needed a companion. And when he realized he love Sunako, he is afraid that Sunako will also push him away. Thus, instead of wooing Sunako, he keeps a distance from her. But fate always brings them together in the most awkward bizzare situations… like when Kyohei used Sunako’s bathroom… or being thrown into a pit together and spent the night there. Kyohei will only start fighting for Sunako’s love when he realize that he wants Sunako to stay by his side and he can’t live without her… during a life and death situation.
Did I twisted the whole plot? XD, I was supposed to write a fanfic like that. LOL. As I’ve mentioned above, if ever Korea is going to make an adaptation, I want CNBLUE to be the 4 male lead cast. I’ve also thought who’s going to be who.
I really had a slight hard time thinking who’s going to be who. I really spent almost the whole day today looking for the right photos. ARGH!
I did the labeling of who’s who without bias. I based in on “who’s going to be better in delivering the character”. Let’s start with Yuki. I choose Minhyuk to portray the role of Yuki because Yuki is cute, Minhyuk is cute. ^^ And his features with Yuki is somewhat similar, right? I mean he is soft-hearted and gentle-looking. ^^ I choose Yonghwa to portray Morri even though Minhyuk already played a playboy role, I think Yonghwa is better at it. Yonghwa has charms and he knows when to use it. And he really knows how to handle girls well. As for Oda, I choose Jonghyun because Oda is usually silent and oblivious to his surroundings. I mean, poker-face. XD And when he smiles, all girls will fall for him, right? Also, Oda is really good in sports, Tendo. Oda, Morri and Kyohei are good in fighting too.. which I hope Jungshin is. LOL. I practically choose Jungshin to take the role of Kyohei because.. he is the tallest. That’s the main reason. And he is chic and sexy without effort. LOL. I find Kyohei in the manga chic and sexy, that’s why. And Jungshin ignites an aura of something like Kyohei’s character. Why did I choose MissA Suzy among thousand female actress or artist? I actually want my favorite Dara to play the lead. But somehow Suzy can pull off the bizarre attitude Sunako has. And their hair is almost the same. LOL. She’s pretty too. But still, I want Dara to be part of this drama. She will be Noi, the prettiest girl in school, Oda’s love partner, Sunako’s only female ally and Kikunoi’s friend. In the drama, Sunako, Noi and Kikunoi became great friends. So, who will be Kikunoi? Me! hahahaha…
